Second Chance is not a myth

Chapter 1
“Please don’t leave me! We will work it out.”
“Nothing can be worked out now”
“Nothing can be or you don’t want it to?”
“You know what? You were never worthy of love.”
“Don’t say that for God’s sake! After all the memories we have made.”
“And I regret that. Loving you was the biggest mistake.”
“We were so happy. You made me feel special and I gave my heart to you. I trusted you when you promised you won’t leave me, I trusted you when you said you will always be by my side, what happened?”
“I don’t know okay! Maybe our love faded with time, maybe we weren’t meant for each other, otherwise we wouldn’t have kept on fighting all day, you wouldn’t have been so insecure and you would have understood me!”
“I fought because I love you, I was insecure because I cannot afford to lose you, I understood you but you were unchecked. You are mine and I will do everything to keep it that way!”
“I was yours. Living in your world suffocated me and I need a breather now. So it’s better we part our ways.”
“Isn’t there anything we can do? Isn’t there any memory or a slightest chance that can stop you?”
“No! Everything is faded and blur now.”
“Shall I keep trying? Will you come back?”
“No”
“Please don’t go! Please! I beg of you.”
“It’s too late. Goodbye! And don’t ever try to contact me.”
And suddenly her car came to a screeching halt and the noise of the traffic around her brought her back to present. Tears welled up in her eyes. The memories of that day still haunted her. Endless requests, nights spent crying till eyes ran dry, all the texts, all the unanswered calls, nothing could bring him back. She had closed her doors to love from that day and salvaged whatever was left of her heart.

Chapter 2
“Where are you baby?”
“I am busy baby! Will text later.”
“But you are online since an hour and you are not replying to me!”
“You are not the only person in my world. Please understand that.”
“Why are you being so rude?”
“Dude I am busy and you can’t get a damn thing straight!”
“Fine. I won’t disturb you. Text whenever you want.”
“Oh not again! Not the melodrama please. I am sick of it!”
“Is there anything about me that you aren’t sick of?”
“Stop being a loser okay! I have friends and they need me!”
“I am your boyfriend or so you say and I need you as well!”
“You know what I can’t take it anymore. Get a life dude and leave me alone.”
“What? How casually you are saying this! After 2 years of relationship this is what you have to say?”
“There is more but you don’t have the courage to face it! So, please end it here and as it is I have found a better person.”
“So that’s what all this is about! You aren’t bored of me, you are cheating on me! Fabulous”
“Whatever dude! I am blocking you. Don’t fall in love with any other girl and ruin her life as well! I am blocking you.”
“But…listen to me” Message undelivered
“Sir, your coffee” The waiter said and he jolted back to the present. A sunny day was suddenly turning gloomy. The day she blocked him, he blocked love from his heart, kept distance from girls and got lost in the routine. It took him a long time to get over her but what was more difficult was to get over the things she said. Yet another heart broken, yet another love lost.

Chapter 3
She entered the café and looked around for a familiar face. He was there sitting alone with his back towards her at the corner table probably sipping his latte she guessed. She made her way to his table
“Sorry I am late. I was struck in traffic.”
He turned and looked at her with surprise.
“Not a problem. I haven’t been waiting for too long.”
“So, having your latte?”
“Yeah! What shall I order for you?”
“Devil’s own”
“Haha! Good choice”
After ordering a devil’s own and another latte for him, he turned to her
“Let me come straight to the point. Are you happy with this?”
“Umm..Actually I was going to ask you the same question”
“I have made my past clear to you and so have you.”
“Hmm”
“And there is complete transparency between us. This is our third meeting and I am willing to give it a chance.”
“I know. I appreciate your understanding but I am still confused. It’s been just 8 months and I am still not sure whether I want a relationship or not.”
“I understand that. But understand one thing, nothing is permanent. We all are broken, carrying a broken heart inside us and looking for another heart that fits our broken perfectly. Love is something that brings magic into your life and it’s also something that takes out the life out of you. But give yourself a chance, give love a chance because only love can heal what has been broken by love.”
“That was beautiful! Do you write?”
“Well not really. Just occasionally I pen down my feelings and I am grateful to my ex for that. The day she dumped me like a piece of shit, I didn’t know what to do or how to react. So I just picked up a pen and started writing about my feelings. Love isn’t a loss always you see!”
“Haha! Yeah I can see that”
“I won’t force you to make a decision right now, but I will request you to think over it. You are a wonderful person and if you are willing to walk with me, I promise I won’t ever leave your hand. I know it’s difficult for you to believe in a promise anymore, but a broken heart has too few things to lie about.”
“I know. I understand. I like you too. But my mind and my heart are at war. I don’t know what to do.”
“Don’t worry. One of them will win and it will be the one you wish to win.”
“Can we just go out? I am feeling claustrophobic. I want fresh air.”
“Sure”
They settled the bill and went out. The dark clouds were hovering above them and they had shrouded the sun behind them. The dampness could be felt in the air and suddenly everything around them was looking more beautiful, more colourful.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Go ahead”
“What did you like about me? What makes you so confident about me? You barely know me.”
“I know enough to make my decision. The day I saw you for the first time, I could see there was much more to you than you show. Whatever you shared with me, after that I was sure, that no matter what, if you will love someone you will not give up ever. You will die trying, but you won’t give up. You value feelings and what you want is someone to value you. All you want is to be wrapped in love and somebody to touch your soul. All you want is a hand to hold and a heart to care. All you want is someone to make you believe in love again. You don’t expect a fairytale kind of love, but just enough to make life worth living for.”
“I don’t know what to say”
“Please don’t cry. That’s the last thing I want in your eyes. Take your time to think. I will wait.”
“What if I can’t reciprocate your feelings?”
“I will wait”
“What if I can never completely move on?”
“I have been through the same phase as you and I am sure one day, you will get over it. But you need to give it a chance.”
“I don’t know. I am not sure.”
“Don’t worry. I was unsure too. I was repelled too. But I am willing to taking my leap of faith with you”
“Can I ask you something again?”
“Please do”
“Do you promise to be like this forever?”
“I do”
“Do you promise you will never leave me?”
“I do”
“Do you promise you will not let our relationship die?”
“I do”

They looked each other into their eyes. Both full of dreams, both full of hope, both full of love. He offered his hand and she locked her fingers with him and a smile appeared on their faces. A smile that was more magical than the rainbow, a smile that was more poetic than the poem, a smile that had finally discovered love. And as he inched closer to her, she could feel her heart racing and as her head rested on his heart and his chin over her head, heavens started pouring on them and they could feel the goosebumps.

Two incomplete love stories, two broken hearts, and two souls hopeless of love finally found a closure. Who says there are no happy endings? Who says love doesn’t happen twice? Who says arranged marriage doesn’t work? Who says dreams don’t come true? And who says that there is no magic? Everything is possible if you choose to believe in it.

6 months later they were again holding each other’s hands and orbiting around the pious fire making promises to each other which they already had, but this time formally and forever. And as he put the vermillion on her forehead, she recalled the words, “You are not worthy of love” and tears started welling up her eyes, but his smiling face finally made her forget those words. With him every second spent was magical and she finally started to believe in fairytales, again.

Rohan & Kavya : Part I

Part I
“Good morning. My name is Kavya….”
Rest of it never made it to his ears. It was the first day of the college and all the eyes filled with dreams and hopes were affixed on this girl who was introducing herself before the class, but a pair of eyes never blinked at her. It was just the beginning.
“How was the first day?”
“It was good. There are quite a few beautiful girls in the class!”
“What about you?”
“I am going to have 100% attendance henceforth!”
Days passed in secret glances and silent admiration but he couldn’t muster the courage to walk up to her but exams played cupid. To his disbelief, she was made to sit next to him. His heart thumped too loud and she almost heard it.
Exams began.
“Hey!”
He was too engrossed in writing his paper and stealing an occasional glance at her.
“Hey!”
His heart skipped a beat at her whisper.
“Yeah” he said with a foolish grin on his face.
“Can you show me the answer to 5th question?”
I want to show you your name on my heart
“Of course. Here you go”
“Thanks a lot”
All he could do was nod with the stupid grin still adorned on his face.
Next day he entered the classroom and she was waiting.
“Hey”
“Heyyy”, A grin on his face
Will she ask for my number? Stupid. Coffee maybe?
“I owe you one. If you wouldn’t have helped I would have flunked the exams!”
Now she owes me. Shall I ask her out for a coffee? No! Desperate. How about notes then?
“Oh that was nothing. By the way I am Rohan.”
“Yup! I know.”
She knows? Has she been noticing me? Does she like me too?
“Right” Fool. Fool. Fool.
Last exam to go.
“Hey Rohan” A voice called out
But how can he miss this melodious voice? He could hear this voice even in the cacophony of hundreds of voices. He turned around to face her.
Wow! She looks so divine. Pinch me Kavya! Pinch me! Are you for real?
“Hi”
“How was did your exams go?”
Staring at you.
”It was good. What about you?”
“Ok ok. I need your help”
She needs my help? What do you need? Do you want me to fetch stars for you? Or orchids?
“Yeah say”
“Actually I don’t know anything about tomorrow’s exam and I am very scared. Can you please help me out?”
Is she really asking me this? I want to cry.
“Sure. Whatever you need.”
“Can we study together in the library if you don’t mind?”
Is she crazy? Why would I mind? I really want to cry.
“Of course. Of course. Let’s go to the library.”
After some serious studies and whole lot of “I can’t believe” they decided to take a break.
“Let’s have some coffee and maggi! I am starving!”
Is she taking me on a date? No! I was supposed to ask her that.
“Yeah let’s go! I am hungry as well”
Over maggi and a cup of coffee.
“So tell me about you”
She wants to know about me. What should I say? I am crazy about you. You are the reason I come to college.
“Well My name is Rohan as you know. I am 21 years old. I have done Bcom. I am a travel enthusiast, a photographer by hobby and a writer on occasions. I am a foodie as well and I love watching movies. And I am single.”
“Hahaha! Why are you telling me you’re single? Is something fishy, hun?” She teased
Shit. Shit. Shit.
“Haha! No no! Nothing like that, just wanted you to be comfortable that you are not stealing anybody’s boyfriend away.”
“Wow that was a nice touch! So what do you write?”
I want to write books and books about you.
“Short poems, stories, general articles etc.”
“Will you share some with me?”
“I will. But, first tell me about yourself”
“My name is Kavya. I am 21 as well. I have done BBA. I love dancing and reading, I am a travel enthusiast as well and I love getting clicked. And yeah, I am single as well.” She winked
Bingo. I want to dance. Play some music.
And their fate was getting entwined as they sipped their coffees.
“Would you do me a favour?”
“Anything. Anytime.”
“Would please click some pictures of me? I don’t have any nice pictures to put up!”
What the hell? Does God love me so much? What shall I do? What shall I do?
“It will be my genuine pleasure as it is, it has been a while where I have clicked something so beautiful.”
“Hahah”
DON’T BLUSH. PLEASE.
“So after exam we will do it”
“Done deal”
And the exams passed smoothly and the results came too. But who cares? A love story was blooming and blossoming from across the benches, at the canteen, in the library, in the parking and over phone calls.
A year passed and they were now buddies.
“First year was so much better. The subjects now are too boring. I hate going to classes.”
It has been a year since I first saw you? Why does it seem like only a moment? I want to tell you now that I love you.
“Me too”
“Let’s go for a movie!”
“You & me alone?”
“Why? Are you afraid of me?”
I am afraid my heart will fail just looking at you. And how can I watch movie when you are with me?
“Come on. Let’s go.”
She watched the movie. He kept glancing at her.
As her beautiful face showed the shades of expressions, butterflies flew in his stomach.
One day.
“I think he’s crazy about you.”
“I don’t think so. I have noticed but I don’t think so.”
Why am I hoping it to be true?
“He is really a nice guy! And OMG his writings!! I am a fan”
Why am I feeling jealous?
“You should say yes, if he gathers the courage to ask you out which he won’t!”
What the hell?
“Let’s see. I am not sure about his feelings. And I don’t have any feelings for him. He’s just a friend.”
Is he? I am not sure if I feel for him or not, Am I?

After that conversation, she began to start noticing his actions. The way he knew how she liked her coffee, when she needed to study, which movies she liked, the songs he dedicated to her, the chocolates he got her, the way he got jealous when she talked to other guys, the way he adored her pictures and the quotes and poems he wrote all were about her! She was at the centre of his world.
Second year passed. Both were still trying to make sense of things around them. Rohan was trying to muster the courage to confess his feelings to her but was afraid of losing the friend in her if things went south. Kavya was still trying to fight her feelings for him but somewhere she wanted to accept them and wanted Rohan to confess it to her. Her heart and mind were at war. Third year was going to be a mess for them.

What will happen in third year?
Will Rohan confess?
Will Kavya realise her love for Rohan?
Will Rohan be friend zoned?
 Will Kavya keep waiting?
Find out in the conclusion.

Karma is not a Bitch, You are!

"Action and Reaction are opposite in direction and equal in magnitude"

"As you sow, so shall you reap"

"What goes around, comes around"

"Life is like a boomerang; what you throw, returns to you"

The concept of Karma works parallel to this thoughts. Karma is not a magic or physical thing, it is something spiritual. Karma is not about vengeance, punishment or retribution, it is simply about reaping what you sow.

The concept of Karma is misinterpreted, misunderstood and misused often by us. Karma is not a linear approach for retribution, it is multidimensional. Human actions are at the base of concept of Karma and the intention with which those actions are carried out. Sometimes it is also possible that the accrued Karma is carried on to next incarnation. The Buddhist concept of Karma focuses on volition and thus, it is our responsibility to be fully aware and conscious of the intentions behind our action. Your Karma, good and bad, is accrued over the lifetime and it returns to you somewhere, sometime.
Karma is not solely about action but about the intention behind the action. A doctor who performs surgery cuts the body as an act of healing while a stabbing with a knife is an act of anger. Both actions are same but intentions are opposite and so is Karma.Karma is a threshold that guides our action.

Karma is a guide to wholesome and harmonious living. It is similar to an ecological way of life. The rubbish or pollutants we throw out into our precious planet do not actually disappear but come back to haunt us and give us diseases. On the other hand, if we care for and purify our environment we live a more pure and healthy life.

Our actions and thoughts not only affect us but also others around us and that sends Karma into an endless loop. Your one harmful action can bring greater harm to people around you and the same will get back to you because, in the concept of Karma, nothing is ever lost, everything comes back to you.

Karma is about action and reaction but it always provides us a window for change and improvement. Actions can be rectified and Karma can be changed. Karma wants us to be conscious and take responsibility for our action otherwise it will keep coming back to you until you become wise.

About karma:

1. The ability to distinguish right from wrong. When we practice devotional service, the Lord as the Supersoul in our heart grants us the knowledge to make the right choices. All of us can, at some time or other, hear the voice of conscience (vivek buddhi). When we start doing something wrong, the voice from inside warns, "Don't do this." When we want to do something right, the voice says, "Yes, do this now." When we practice devotional service and chant the holy name of Krishna, this inner voice becomes stronger, guiding us to make the right choices in life. Thus devotional service can grant us the knowledge to gradually become disentangled from all karma.
2. The determination to do right and avoid wrong. Devotional service saves us from (a) doing further bad karma and (b) the craving to do bad karma. It gives us the inner satisfaction that enables us to say no to all the sinful pleasure of this world. Thus, we not only know the right choices, but we also get the willpower to make those choices.
3. The lessening of sinful reactions. Certain reactions are destined to come to us from the past. But devotional service reduces those reactions. Instead of the complete reaction, the Lord gives devotees a token reaction so that they don't forget the miserable nature of this world.
4. The inner strength to face suffering. Whatever residual karma comes upon us, devotional service grants us the strength to tolerate the suffering. The more spiritually advanced, the more the devotee experiences the reality of this protection from Krishna. So externally, pure devotees may seem to be in pain, but internally, because of their remembrance of the holy name, they don't feel the suffering.
