"I don’t give a damn.”

We all want to be liked and to be accepted but in the process we begin to depend on other's opinions and views which push us to discomfort and self-doubt. We try to pursue a life based on people's wishes and expectation and somewhere we lose who we are.

But there are many reasons to not care about what people have to say

#It's Your Life

Well, this is an obvious reason. Most of the times people tend to misuse their freedom of speech and expression. It is your life and you are not required to rely on anyone's opinion or approval to do anything in your life because your life is your business, not theirs.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”—Steve Jobs

#Thoughts are unstable

The only thing constant in this world is change. People and their thoughts keep on changing, so what was sunny today might be dark tomorrow. So, you should not let people's thought matter too much. Listen to everybody, but in the end do as you wish to.

#What is right for them might be wrong for you

Right and wrong is a matter of perception and differs from person to person. So what they say is their point of view and it might not work for you. We all are unique with unique perspective and so only you know what is right for you.

“Some people say you are going the wrong way, when it’s simply a way of your own.”— Angelina Jolie

#You will be an underachiever

If you constantly worry about what people have to say or if you try to stand up to people's expectation, you will never be able to achieve what you want. In life, we come across many situations where compromises and adjustments have to be made and if you constantly worry about people, you are bound to fail.

“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”— Oscar Wilde

#They say, you pay.

The one who sows shall reap. People will say whatever they want to, but it is upon you whether to act on their advice or to have a say of your own because you are responsible for your actions and their consequences. Best example: Stock market

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”— Dr. Seuss

#The Adverse Effect

We try to please everybody so much in order to be liked and accepted that we become a pleaser or submissive. And as much as you want people to like you, with time, people will grow to dislike this nature of yours. Pretence is never everlasting.

#They don't care

We feel the pressure because we think everyone is watching us and what we do and say matters to them, but not everyone is as interested as we think.  Unless our actions have direct impact on someone's life, nobody bothers to care about what we do. Harsh but true.
“Never dull your shine for somebody else.” ― Tyra Banks

“You probably wouldn’t worry about what people think of you if you could know how seldom they do.” ― Olin Miller

#Life is too short

Everything said and done, life is too short to be lived on someone else's thoughts and opinions. Do what you please, be who you are because the people about whom you are worrying today might not be there in your life one year from now.

“You have no responsibility to live up to what other people think you ought to accomplish. I have no responsibility to be like they expect me to be. It’s their mistake, not my failing.” ― Richard P. Feynman

#You are not nutella

You cannot please everybody, you are not nutella. People have unending expectations and life is too short to keep fulfilling them.

Don't let anybody burden you with their thoughts and expectations, be yourself for there are many like them but only one like you. Don't lose your sleep over opinions of others. Learn to let go and free yourself from the weight of expectations and you will discover a true gem. Yourself.

“I do not care so much what I am to others as I care what I am to myself.”           ― Michel de Montaigne

A special note for beautiful ladies:
“There is nothing more attractive than confidence, once she sees her own beauty, everyone else will.” ― Habeeb Akande

You don't need selfies or likes to be beautiful. You don't need a guy to tell you how beautiful you are so chin up, Buttercup.

The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.

Always act like you are wearing an invisible crown

We often lose our confidence to external approvals and comparisons, we create problems in our life because of pessimism, we indulge in self-doubt and pretence to gain acceptance, we often give up without a fight, but we forget that we have only one life and that too is very short to regret.

Here is how you can prevent rather than curing:

#Inhale Positivity, Exhale Negativity

Negative people and negativity are like anchors, they will pull you down till you drown. Get rid of negative people and negative thoughts and pour in positivity. Positivity doesn't mean believing that it's sunny while it is raining or deny the existence of a problem, but to believe in yourself and the outcome of adversity. Belief is the first step to being positive.

#Become resilient by choice, not by force

Resilience is the most important trait that will keep you afloat. The ability to bounce back from setbacks and not give in is important to survive and live through current times. Your action and reaction to small things matter because nothing is ever going to be perfect and smooth. It doesn't matter how many times you fall, what matters is how quickly you get back on your feet.

#Say no to self-doubt

Social networking has affected us adversely psychologically. We rely heavily on likes and comments from these mediums and when we don't get expected likes or comment, we begin to feel sad, depressed, negative and pessimistic. Social networking is good, but it is not everything. Don't rely on how many likes you get, in the end it won't even matter. Get rid of these stigma or get rid of social networking platforms completely.

#Pamper yourself

The most important person in your life is you. We become so engrossed in others that we often forget ourselves. Put yourself on priority and treat yourself with some good shopping, dressing up, hanging out and indulging in activities you love. Nothing is better than loving yourself and be happy.

#Let go

It is human tendency to make a simple thing complex and invent a problem where it was non-existent in the first place. We feel hurt and sad because we hang on to things, unpleasant things. Sometimes it is better to let it go. I am not much in favour of forgiveness or second chances because both are overrated, but still letting go makes it easy.

#Accept the mess you are

Nobody is perfect and perfection is very overrated. It is better to be a flawed diamond than a perfect pebble. In our attempt to fit-in, we engage ourselves in pretence and try to become socially acceptable. Once you make peace with yourself, there is nobody who can make you feel bad about you. We are not a missing part of a puzzle, we are an enigma ourselves.

#Be courageous

Many things in life need courage, but the most courageous decision you will ever make is to be yourself and living your life at your will. Courage to spot, accept and correct negative traits is a blessing like no other. Don't hesitate to speak your thoughts, don't be flashy to fit in, don't suppress your emotions, gather courage and do what makes you happy.

Baahubali: The Entrepreneur

No doubt Baahubali was one of the most epic movie made in Indian cinema, but it had more to it than just entertainment. As a matter of fact, there is always something more than entertainment in movies, but we choose to overlook.

Here are the entrepreneurial lessons that Baahubali taught us:

# Entrepreneur never gives up

Baahubali tries to reach the peak of the mountain again and again and everytime he falls off a greater height, but he keeps on trying till he succeeds.

Job is like climbing the mountain, but entrepreneurship is like climbing the mountain with rocks falling from above. Giving up is not an entrepreneurial trait. Sometimes along with efforts, you need the right kind of motivation as well.

# Entrepreneur is passionate

Baahubali shows a couple of instances of his passion like when he is trying to climb the mountain or when he accepts the task of rescuing Devsena to win over Avanthika after he is moved by the warriors passion of rescuing Devsena.

The major difference between an Entrepreneur and an employee is passion. It is the passion of the entrepreneur that drives his employee to work as hard as him. Passion is the catalyst in the process of achieving success.

# Entrepreneurship is about performance

Baahubali and Bhallaldeva both were competing in the race to the throne and the reason why Baahubali was chosen over Bhallaldeva was because of his performance and qualities.

Bill gates, Steve Jobs, Mark zuckerberg all are dropouts. The thing is that qualification can take you to the stairs, but your performance will help you climb them. Qualification doesn't guarantee success, performance does.

# Entrepreneurs innovate

During the war, Baahubali was depreived of sophisticated arms, ammunition and force, but he innovated new attacks with whatever resources he had.

Entrepreneurship is not about what wonders you can do with unlimited resources, but what you can do with lack of resources.

# Entrepreneurs are leaders, not boss

During the war, where Bhallaldeva kills his own people, Baahubali saves them. Also, while erecting the statue, Baahubali came forward to help his people even though he was on a different mission.

Entrepreneur always puts people before profit. An entrepreneur creates a family and work hand in hand with them to bring out the best in them. Richard Branson and Google are the best examples I can think of.

# There is always a way for an Entrepreneur

To save his mother from the pain of pouring water again and again on Shivling, Baahubali lifts the Shivling and places it under the waterfall for an incessant supply of water.

Entrepreneurs always try to find new, simple and easier ways to do things. They don't do different things, they do things differently. An entrepreneur won't turn away because of a blockade, he will change his way.

# Loyalty pays

When Kattappa defeats Aslam Khan, the arms dealer, he politely turns down the invitation of lunch with him as it was against his stature. In return, Aslam Khan promises to help Kattappa whenever he needs him.

Staying loyal and honest to your work, to your people and to your intentions, will reap great benefits for you in the future.

Perks of solitude

Say "alone" and "lonely" before someone and you will get the look. Yes, that look. Around us, it is considered to be a social stigma. Loneliness is a completely different thing from being alone. In this hustling life, it is very very important that you spend at least some time with yourself. The perks being:

A clear picture: Generally our lives involve a lot of running and everything around us passes with great speed. Some time alone with yourself help you grasp the surroundings, slows your life bit down and allow you to get a clear picture of life.

Sorted mind: Our mind is like a storage box, it can handle a limited number of files and folders in it. So, it needs to be organized from time to time to get rid of irrelevant and unnecessary files. This way you can keep your mind and life organized.

Retrospection: In your time with yourself, you can think about the past time which you cannot or won't do otherwise and analyze yourself. You will get a better idea of right and wrong and also it will help you direct your future.

KYB: Know yourself Buddy. The farther you get from the world, the closer you get to yourself. In your "Me" time, you can discover your new sides, new capabilities, and a broader perspective. You can also come face to face with your weaknesses and decide how to go about it. You can accept it or ignore it.

Delete junk: Too many thoughts, too much fuss, lots of negativity? Yeah, we all have to deal with this kind of shit. In your alone time, you can clear your mind and get rid of the "Caches" and "temporary files" and shed some load of your mind.

Independence & Happiness: Generally we rely on others for decision making, emotional needs, and social needs. We depend too much on others for our happiness. Spending some time with yourself will make you realize that you don't always need people for being happy. When our happiness depends on others we cannot sustain the happiness because of fear of loss, but till eternity, you are not going to lose yourself. So, learning to be happy with yourself is the best way to achieve sustainable happiness.

Disconnect: Where has your best friend checked in, how many likes you got on Instagram or which movie your favorite actor has signed is the least of your concern. In this information age, we have more information to process than we can handle and so for maintaining our sanity, we need to get rid of the unnecessary and irrelevant information. It doesn't mean you become asocial or anti-social, it just means you shouldn't forget yourself while knowing about others.

I am alone and I know it: We come alone and we go alone. We spend a lot of energy in trying not to be alone because being alone is a bad thing. But being alone is the most wonderful thing that can happen to you. That way you can embrace your uniqeness and your character without anyone's approval. We don't need anyone's approval, we are amazing the way we are but we are too scared to accept the fact that we can be alone.

Some day try going for a drive alone. Put your phone aside and listen to songs, sip some tea and just shut your mind. You will return addicted to the peace you find.
